The Battle Begins!

As stories of Mac computers being overrun by malware pour in, PC users begin to chuckle. Apple's Macintosh is now subject to the same torment that the PC has been undergoing for years.
Apple has announced that it will be sending out some patches later this week to try and resolve the problem. This attack will be very ugly since most machines are largely unprotected. Any Mac user who survives the barrage of attacks will most likely be a PC user!
Also, there are a bunch of websites that are injecting new code into the already malware infected machines with trojans.
Here is a little overview of a Apple Support document : To avoid the malware, Apple advises users to either manually or force quit their browsers if an notification about any malware pops up. In the case that the browser automatically downloaded and launched the malware installer, Apple recommends that you go to the Downloads folder and delete the installer. Apple then provides detailed, multi-step instructions to remove the malware if it was already installed.
Mac users will probably not be able to deal with this themselves since they have been trained from birth not to have to deal with these kinds of problems. It's use who use PC's who can go in, tweak, find, erase, and fiddle with things. The Mac is a easy-to-use appliance with users who are exactly the same. They won't be able to solve the problem themselves unless they have a IT guy living in their house.

I'm really surprised this hasn't happened sooner, but nonetheless I'm still happy its happening. Hopefully this will wipe the smug smirk off of every Mac using hipsters face!

2nd Breach

Sony on Tuesday reported another security breach, saying 8,500 user accounts had been compromised.
The company said that Sony Music Entertainment Greece learned about the data breach late Sunday. It affected artist websites where fans can sign up for newsletters.
The sites were taken down immediately, the company said.
The compromised records contained email addresses, phone numbers, user names and passwords. On April 20, Sony shut down its PlayStation services after a security breach exposed personal details of 77 million users.
The PlayStation Network -- which allows users to play games with friends around the world and download movies and games over the Internet -- went offline after officials learned days before that a hacker stole personal information from its 77 million users.
Sony officials did not disclose the breach until April 22.

Rag Heads on Twitter!

The Taliban has recently started tweeting on Twitter! Then on May 12th they began tweeting in English. They have been tweeting about their accomplishments in the Middle East, which have been extremely exaggerated. They claim to have killed a total of 81 soldiers, a spy plane, 23 vehicles, and 5 U.S. tanks. New sources and the Military find these claims to be absurd. The U.S. is watching this account to understand who the Taliban considers enemies. The Taliban's feed is mostly links to their website "Islamic Emigrate of Afghanistan". Their followers have jumped from 1000 to 3000 within days of posting in English. The feed can be found here. The Taliban follows 4 other feeds. Kavkaz Center, Feed Twit, Nunnasia, and Alsomood.

Two and a Half Men

We all have been covering Charlie Sheen pretty closely, but recently he has seemed to sputter from the spotlight. This morning I was greeted with Charlie Sheen headlines. Apparently, Ashton Kutcher will be replacing Charlie on Two and a Half Men. I find this very interesting. Ashton Kutcher is one of my favorite actors. I'm somewhat excited to see how the show goes from here with this new star.
Charlie though isn't as happy with the news. Stating that the shows ratings will suffer from the cast change, and warned that the set is cold and loveless. I'm sure the show will do good for a couple weeks, but who knows what will happen in the near future. Who do you think would be better for the show guys? Kutcher or Sheen!?

I'm just gonna leave this epic video down here, somewhat related! =P
